History


This area was inhabited by the Kwena people under Chief Mohlomi. They were raided by many other tribes, such as the Ngwaneni, Zulu and Ndebele. A European trader built a store in the hollow below the Hlohlowane Mountain. The town was laid out in 1906 close to the store.
