Viljoenskroon is named after the owner, JJ Viljoen, of the farm
on which it is built, as well as his horse, which was called Kroon.

History
Viljoenskroon was laid out in 1921 on the farm Mahemskraal owned by
JJ Viljoen. It became a municipality in 1925.

Farming: maize, wheat, sunflowers, ground-nuts, potatoes, cattle. Mining:
gold, uranium, coal.
