Name

Balfour was named after Arthur James Balfour, a British Prime Minister who held a speech on the local railway station.

Attractions

History

Balfour was proclaimed a town in 1898. It was planned on the farm Vlakfontein, and first named McHattiesburg after the owner, FS McHattie. In 1906 it was renamed Balfour.
