Klein Karoo Nature Reserve

Western Cape

The Klein Karoo Nature Reserve is 4Km southwest of Ladismith on the R62 a few kilometers from the Groot River. The reserve covers about 2'800Ha.

Vegetation: succulent, spekboom, karro scrub, karoo num-num, yellow pomegranate, klapperbos (Nymania capensis - it has pink seed pods, visible from August to December).

A rare bulb (Syringodea Saxatilis) grows in the area.

Game: eland, mountain zebra, springbok, duiker, steenbok.

Klapperbos Hiking Trail

The Klapperbos Hiking Trail is a circular trail of 12.6Km and takes about 5 hours to complete.
