The Hartbeespoort Dam is close to Brits. The dam offers angling and water sport, such as yachting, sailing, motor boating, skiing. At the cultural village, Mapog Ndebele Village, colorful painted traditional homes can be viewed. Close to Brits are the De Wildt Cheetah Research Centre, where the first cheetahs were born in captivity, and the Margaret Roberts Herbal Centre where a herbal garden can be visited on certain days of the week.

History
Brits was originally a railway station among a cluster of granite hills on the farm Roodekopje (Dutch for Red Hillock). It became a town in 1944, and an industrial centre in 1968.
