In the lists places (ie cities, towns, villages and settlements) on a particular
route are generally listed in the south-north or east-west direction. For
example, the N1 is
listed from Cape Town to Musina, and not the other way around. The lists
on this page shows only the main centers. For details, see the individual

R-routes
Regional Route
An R route is a Regional Route. Provinial
Routes are also indicated with an R. The signage
of these two types of routes differ. A Regional Route (or
Minor Route) has a rectangular sign, while a Provincial Route
(or Major Route) has a diamond-shaped sign.
