Fernkloof Nature Reserve (1'446Ha) in the mountains, with 40Km of graded footpaths. Marine Reserve in Walker Bay. Whale watching is good and the presence of whales is announce by a Whale Crier. Walker Bay was once filled with 120 mating Southern Right Whales.

History

In the 1800s Hermanus Pieters camped here every summer. The place became known as Hermanus Pietersfontein. The family Henn later settled here and a church church were built in 1868. In 1891 it became a village, and in 1904 a municipality. By this time the Pieterfontein had already been dropped from the name.
