History

In the early days this area was inhabited by the nomadic Khoi-Khoi people. When a Portuguese party camped here for 4 weeks in 1497, a bloodless fight developed between one of the Portuguese sailors and some Khoi-Khoi. The settlement St Helena Bay is one of several fishery settelements along the bay shores of St Helena Bay, the bay.
